The work

A fabrication drawing leaves a great deal to the reader: which view defines a hole, where a dimension starts, and which geometry follows from the standard profile. An experienced detailer brings that knowledge to every reconstruction. An AI system needs those conventions made explicit.

My contribution

I lead the applied AI pilot with a global specialist in robotic cutting machines for steel beams and other structural profiles, alongside research and development partners. The work connects drawing interpretation to structured extraction, deterministic conversion to 3D part geometry and CNC instructions, and checks against reference parts. The output must be inspectable by an engineer, including where the reconstruction is wrong.

What has been established

The pilot delivered an extraction pipeline and an evaluation workbench for comparing reconstructed parts with reference geometry. Checks distinguish valid machine files, stable conversion and correct geometry. A valid file alone does not establish a correct part.

This remains pilot evidence. It does not establish unattended manufacturing readiness; engineering review and further qualification are required before machine use.
